Summary

Jesus did not come to destroy the Law and the prophets, but to fulfill them. Jesus came to 'do' the law. When Adam sinned, he was the representative of mankind and he implemented a system of sin and death between mankind and God. This system is the knowledge of good and evil, or the "do to become" mentality. No one could "do" the whole Law. Jesus, as the second Adam and representative of all mankind, came to obey the Law on our behalf so that it could pass away. By simply believing this, the obedience and righteous of Jesus are imputed to us. The Law had two aspects: obedience and disobedience. If one obeyed the Law, one would be blessed; if one disobeyed the Law, one would be cursed. Jesus fulfilled both sides: He obeyed the whole of the Law on our behalf, and He became a curse in order to fulfill the second part of the Law for us as well.
